Ultra-protein homemade drink: 2 gluten-free recipes

Why make an ultra-protein drink when you have celiac disease?

When you have celiac disease, finding a drink that's protein-rich, easy to digest, gluten-free, and made with clean ingredients can be a real puzzle. Many store-bought drinks are loaded with sugar, packed with additives, or contain dairy that's hard to tolerate. Good news: you can make something far more nutritious, "cleaner," and perfectly suited to your digestive system right at home.

Today I'm sharing two variations:

✔️ A classic version, rich in skyr, Greek yogurt, or fromage blanc (your choice).

✔️ A lactose-free, 100% plant-based version that's still packed with protein.

Both come together in 2 minutes, with no fancy equipment required.

1. Ultra-protein drink - classic version (with skyr / Greek Yogurt / Fromage blanc)

This version is ideal if you digest dairy well and are looking for a creamy, filling drink that's naturally rich in protein.

Ingredients

  • 150g skyr, Greek yogurt, or fromage blanc (your choice)

  • 150 to 200ml milk (cow's, almond, soy, or coconut)

  • 1 tbsp almond butter, peanut butter, or tahini

  • ½ banana or 4 dates

  • 1 tsp raw cacao (optional)

  • 1 pinch of cinnamon

Recipe

  • Add all the ingredients to a blender.

  • Blend until smooth.

  • Add a splash more milk if you'd like a thinner texture.

Nutritional value

  • 20 to 30g of protein, depending on the yogurt you choose

  • Low glycemic index

  • A great post-workout drink, or a quick, nutritious breakfast

Why is this version great for people with celiac disease?

  • Gluten-free if you choose a certified plant-based milk

  • Very filling (helps prevent cravings)

  • Supports muscle recovery and helps maintain steady energy levels

  • Smooth texture, easy to digest even with gut sensitivity

2. Ultra-protein drink - lactose-free version (100% plant-based)

Perfect if you're lactose intolerant, or if you'd simply rather skip dairy altogether. It's still very high in protein, creamy, and above all, extremely easy to digest.

Ingredients

  • 30g gluten-free plant-based protein (pea, rice, or hemp)

  • 200ml unsweetened plant-based milk (ideally soy, which is highest in protein)

  • 1 tbsp almond butter or tahini

  • ½ banana or 3–4 dates (optional)

  • 1 tsp chia seeds (protein boost)

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao or maca (optional)

Recipe

  • Pour the plant-based milk into your blender.

  • Add the protein powder, almond butter, and banana.

  • Blend for 30 seconds.

  • Done!

Nutritional value

  • 28 to 32g of protein, depending on the protein powder used

  • Very well tolerated

  • Ideal for sensitive or inflamed guts

Why is it perfect for celiacs?

  • 0 lactose

  • 0 gluten

  • Very easy to digest

  • Supports the gut microbiome and digestive comfort

  • Absorbed easily even during periods of digestive fatigue

Classique ou sans lactose : laquelle choisir ?

Goal

           Recommended version

  • Recovering after a workout

Classic or lactose-free (protein + skyr, or protein + soy)

  • Ultra-digestibility

           Lactose-free

  • Extra-creamy texture

           Classic version

  •  Quick morning drink

           Either

  • Digestive sensitivity/inflammation

           Lactose-free

Both options are healthy, quick, and perfectly compatible with a gluten-free diet.

In summary

Whether you go for the classic or the lactose-free version, making your own ultra-protein drink at home lets you control the ingredients, skip the additives, and give your body exactly what it needs, especially important when you have celiac disease and your digestion calls for a little extra care.
